Great good comedies: 'In her shoes' and 'The Holiday'

Good, well written comedies with good actors who know how to bring a story to life and have you laughing at the right spots. Seem like over-advertising? Nope, these movies are good fun. Actually, both have Cameron Diaz in them... And what about Tony Colette, Kate Winslet, Jack Black, Jude Law, Shirley MacLain.

Who knew we would be treated to a part 3 of these amazing movies with Ethan Hawke en Julie Delphy?! Very happy this one came out.

Dangerous Liaisons

John Malkovich, Glenn Close, Uma ThurmanKeanu Reeves, Swoosie Kurtz and Michelle Pfeiffer: the one and only cast for this French piece of literature. From the first moment in the cinema I was on this lifetime love affair. Read the book in highschool, actually in French! Our teacher Miss Exler took us to the play. But it was this movie that did it for me. And don't forget John's mouth...

Lost in translation and Marie-Antionette

Blown away by the work of Sofia Coppola. Two here: Marie-Antoinette and Lost in transaltion. Both fresh, orginal choices, daring, amazing visuals, hig dedication to quality, love for cinema, bold, stunning actors, female caracters are rounded. I keep watching them over and over and over again.

Kill Bill, vol 1 + 2

Who doesn't adore Uma Thurman in Kill Bill? Amazing power house and the ultimate chick flick. At first I thought that all the blood and gore would put me off, but it's Quentin Tarantino's cheer genious that has drawn me in for life. With every passing frame you can see the amount of dedication, education and love that's gone in this project. Such quality beyond believe. And all the women, and there are a lot, are multi layered. What an enjoyment!
I am proud to have this box in my collection.

Before Sunrise + Before Sunset

Two actors talking. You're thinking: "Really?!" Really and it's dead interesting and gripping. It deals with love in all its complexity. That's why it's facinating, beacuse you can relate.

'Before Sunrise' and part 2 'Before Sunset'. Ethan Hawke and Julie Delphy are splendid.

Chungking Express

Chungking Express sealed my love for Azian movies. The fact that they don't explane everything, leaving room for the viewer, is what draws me in to their books and movies.
Eversince I have seen tons and my apetied is as great as it was in the beginning.

The Unbearable Lightness of Being

What to say here? Everyone agrees this is one amazing piece of movie. Stunning performances by Juliette Binoch (beauty incarnated), Daniel Day-Lewis and Lena Olin (if only to be that stunning throughout any age).
I go back to this movie again, and agian, and agian, and again. Read the book as well: Milan Kundera.

sex, lies and videotape

A year later then 'Dangerous Liaisons' this movie was released: sex, lies and videotape. My summers then were amazing. Along with 'Nine 1/2 weeks' it was an awaking.

It brought James Spader, Andy McDowell and Laura San Giacomo (also in Pretty Woman) into my world. I had just moved out of my parents house and was making the world my own. This movie added a level underlying sexuality that was trilling to me. I finally realised that there was much more out there. I wasn't feeling like such a freak anymore, something clicked and made complete sense.

Also cinematographicly it has been a benchmark for me.

Oh, and then James in 'White Palace' with Susan Sarandon!
