Color blocking
In the ELLE Decoration of September 2013 my eye fell on this page: color
blocking in interiors. What a beautiful trend to have happen right now!
It entered fashion a while ago, here you see a gorgeous interpretation
of it in this bedroom setting.
Though I believe there is a place for minimalism and that it suits many people and occasions, I do believe that many more celebrate life and love to express it in bright colorful bold statement houses that do jusitice to them and how they live. To me minimalism, a trend they say is coming back in fashion, is too politically correct, a 'don't rock the boat' or the very Dutch 'be normal then you are already crazy enough' (very rough translation). Life is vibrant, our living and working surroundings should be as well. Break the glass, no fear of color!

Garden
I will have my garden fixed by Irish Diarmuid Gavin. The man is a genius in contemporary garden design. Mixing materials, plants, shapes, colors, lightning and objects in a way that blows your mind.
Between 1999 - 2002 he co-presented a BBC2 programm called 'Home front'. Every week I was clued to the television. (He and Laurens Llewelyn-Bowen were fantastic, also in their bickering.)
I always said if anyone could swoop in, get a free hand and do my garden, it would be Diarmuid. (No pun intended.) www.diarmuidgavindesign.co.uk

Wooden Thai chair
One day I will purchase me a small wooden chair that I frequently used in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It is a bit loungy and precisely my size. That is to say, not Western-huge, can't get my feet on the ground type of seating thing.
This little chair is perfect for reading on the porch. I could steal some private moments on it.
The Thais don't think it is special as it is part of their everyday life. I think it is perfect.
(The picture is of the bench version, as I can't find a picture of the chair. If anyone could tell me where I'll be able to purchase the chair or bench, I'd be most grateful.)
